Behind this rather bland stock diff cover now lies an Eaton TrueTrac diff

Very limited. My truck barely has enough power to kick up gravel from a stop with both of those meaty Yokohama Geolandar G015 A/Ts clawing at the ground. I did manage to get it a little sideways on gravel while making a tight turn and going WOT, but holy crap the grip is astounding. I’m very pleased.

I had not given any thought to a new diff cover until Friday when I got the truck back from the shop. After considerable browsing, I think I’m gonna go with !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! :

Not only does it add about a quart of oil capacity and feature a drain plug (pretty common among aftermarket diff covers), it also has a machined O-ring groove to eliminate the need for a gasket or RTV sealant. And it that wasn’t enough cool features, it even has a friggin dipstick! (diffstick?)

I figure I’ll run the gear oil that’s in it now for a thousand miles and then change it out with the new cover. So chuffed.

Update : It has been brought to my attention that flat-back diff covers suck for actually slinging lubrication where it’s needed. So I’ll wait till Banks comes out with theirs to fit the 10.25 Sterling:

You should do some research into flat back diff cover s before you buy one.

Thanks, I appreciate it. All the other whiz-bang features aren’t worth a damn if it’s not good at actually circulating the gear oil.

Looks like Banks should be coming out with a cover that will fit my Sterling 10.25 axle sometime soon:

Instead of a dip stick it has a sight glass, so even more convenient. Also has the other features of the flat back.
